Headed out to the ICW to fish along the channel. Lots of small trout, small reds and small mangroves. Interspersed with lots of hardheads that were hitting all my pinperch. Finger mullet were just about non-existent. Ended with 2 very skinny trout one 15" and one 18", and 2 reds one 24 and one 27. Both the reds put up great fights.

Maybe it is just me but it seems when I catch a red while wading the fight is a lot better then when I catch it from the jetties, maybe it is the angle of the line and pole?

Looks like your larger red could have eaten your smaller trout!!!! Razz Razz

Not bad for such a windy day.

Now there is an idea for when bait gets scarce. leave those dink trout on the hook and hope for something bigger to eat it. Laughing

Do you use the same rigs jetty fishing as you do flats fishing? If not, that may be why the fight seems harder while wading. Wink

Pretty much the same rigs. I prefer freelining but that was useless today. So all were rigged carolina style with a 1 oz weight. The only difference is that sometimes I use a 2 oz. weight at the jetties.

Maybe the difference is that it just feels more personal when I am in the water with them. Very Happy

Kind of like bowhunting: I killed my first, second and third deer with my bow on the ground with no blind, while wearing blaze orange to boot! Being eye level with your quarry is way more satisfying than sitting in a tree!!! Just like sight fishing, which is a lot more like hunting than just blind casting.
