Where is a good place to catch some crabs? Is it better at certain times of the day? I remember when I was a kid we would go out and catch them, but I don't remember if it was certain times of the year or at certain times during the day. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks _________________ http://lagunafishing.com - GPS Map/Satellite Imagery of fishing spots in the Laguna Madre

I guess anyplace around here is ok. Most people use chicken necks tied to a piece of string. And then bring them in slow so they can be netted. We used to use the hoops with netting on them and then tie fish guts to the netting, but that was in california I have not seen that method used here. _________________ Fishing and Kayaking its a rough life but somebody has to do it. |

| My daughter and I used to chase them around on the backside of Mustang with nets by Fish Pass etc. Then we would spend two or three hours and maybe get four. It was a lot of fun but we stopped that when we could get them at the Boat Hole Marina from Cindy for 1.25 each. |

Thanks for the info, when I was a kid we used those hoop/basket nets and used chicken necks tied to the middle of them. I told my wife about it and she wants to go and catch some blue crab now
Tyler, thanks for the info about the boat hole, might just be easier to go and buy them there We will try our luck, maybe at the train tracks, if we can't get them we will just go and buy them _________________ http://lagunafishing.com - GPS Map/Satellite Imagery of fishing spots in the Laguna Madre

I'm with Tyler, get with Cindy. They are closed Monday. They sell fish too, $2 per pound and will scale and clean. That is, if you have had bad luck fishing, but I would not know about that.
I've crabbed at the mud bridge on Yorktown. Just east of Clems on Packery channel has to be a good spot with everyone throwing their fish cleaning waste into the channel there.
Go see Cindy.

Yeah I thought about trying areas where frequent scraps get tossed.
Is it better to get crabs during the day or at night? Hmm, that didn't sound right _________________ http://lagunafishing.com - GPS Map/Satellite Imagery of fishing spots in the Laguna Madre

buying crabs is ok but catching them is great. especially with kids. I started crabbing when I was very young and still enjoy it today. Oso bay is full of crabs, but some may question eating anything out of there. Corpus Christi bay, just across from the college has lots of blue crabs and stone crabs. Packery channel is a good place to try. I like to use a line and pull them in but for kids the baskets are a lot easier. As to what time, if there are crabs in the area and they smell the bait they will come to it. I've caught them at every time of the day and night. Give it a try and everyone is sure to have fun. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

A couple years ago I went way out holly to get to the tracks and try the new 4wd. Everything was cool until I hit the pavement coming back and there was a grumpy cop trying to clear a large branch off the road. He told me that was private property and that he should give me a ticket. He let me go, but haven't been back since. |
