After 2 years of less than great success I had almost decided to sit out this year's sharkathon, but at the urging of my little brother I decided not to break tradition and give it another go. So after making the long drive down and a late night of preparation, we finally made the check in at around 10:30 friday. After what felt like a tractor pull towing my little utility trailer through the 20's we decided to just go ahead and set up on a decent looking gut around where to 25 mm should have been. After watching some fairly rough surf while setting up camp we decided to just cast baits until conditions improved, and quickly got into the action on redfish when I landed this 35" bull

We finished out the day with a few more smaller fish, and loaded up on whiting for bait and or fish tacos. After sleeping through the monsoon Friday night we woke up to much improved weather/surf and decided it was time to yak a few big baits out. The efforts would yield two sharks for the day, one of which was this fat little girl that measured out to 5'2"

The other which was actually caught first, was this solid 7' spinner that turned out to be the winning fish

A successful release

And to the winner is Laughing :
