We traveled last friday to La Pesca looking for some snapper fishing, weather was good and so we cleared the jetties at 7:00 a.m. en route to some coordinates just 10 miles north east of La Pesca.
Just when we were about to arrive at our destination we decided to give it a try and troll some lures to se if the Kings were feeding since some Pangas were trollin. Soon I caught what feeled like a small king but it was a Bonito and there was just another strike at Emmanuelle´s rod but it got loose when getting close to the boat.

After so little action with the kings we proceeded to our snapper destination, the current was strong and there was some wind, not a big deal but still it was enough to move us around since our anchor was not really the size needed for the job, we caught several hardheads! and a few snapper and one trigerfish.
Here is a picture of some Lane Snapper or "candy snapper" that we caught on saturday August 22nd, 2009.
Here is a pic of the trigerfish.
Since we were not able to stay over the rock structure with our anchor we called it a day and headed to the hotel to relax and once everybody took a bath we headed to a local restaurant on the beach to have some yummy seafod and watch the soccer match between the two Monterrey local teams.
The restaurant on the beach proved to be a good one and very relaxing with the palapa roof and sand floor, oh yes the food was excelent.
Here is a view of the north jetty from the restaurant:
We decided to give it another shot on sunday morning to the elusive snapper rocks but this time Chuy our guide found us a more apropiate anchor, after wondering several improductive spots I decided to ask for some help from a Panga that was fishing with some tourist close to our numbers, the fisherman proved to be very friendly and allowed us to anchor right beside his boat ( yup, you guessed right, I inmediately marked the spot in our gps! ).
I was the first to drop the bait and less than 10 secs I had something solid at the end, a good red snapper! so every body started catching the guachos as they are called by the locals and ofcourse some good trigerfish too.
Here is a picture of Jesus with his first Snapper of the day:
The trigerfish or "cochinitas" are sometimes big enough to give a small battle:
Here is Oscar with his best Cochinita:
After filling a good cooler with edible fish we called it a day and returned to the hotel for lunch and a quick bath before hitting the road back to Monterrey, the sea was like a lake so the return trip was a blast!
