Hello guys looking for info on a good beginners rod/reel for flyfishing for reds that i can purchase online for $200 since that same $200 outfit will be more like a $250/275 outfit at Roys bait and tackle. I do want something between 8 and 9wt for rod and something with a large arbor for large amounts of backing for a reel. I will be mainly be wading the backside of mustang island near the powerlines and church and maybe up by shamrock cove.

You can get a combination outfit - NXT - from Temple Fork Outfitters for a little over $200. I really like their products and now use my Sage as a back-up rod. Here's the link: http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/outfits/nxt.html

Fly reels are interchangeable - very simple to switch. This is an IM6 graphite rod - will be tough to beat for that money. You are going to want a rod that will allow you, as a beginner, to throw into the wind. This one will and you'll be hard pressed to find another one that will for that price.
