From the North Padre Island Moon:

Quote:
Pro pedestrian beach group presentation & fundraiser set for Monday, September 25th.

"It's About Time Corpus Christi", a citizens group formed in support of a 7200 feet Public Pedestrian-Safe Beach and the proposed rresort development on N. Padre Island from Access Rd. 4 to Packery Channel, will be the recipient of a fundraiser hosted by:

Utopia World Cuisine & Lounge
Monday, Sept. 25,2006
5:00 - 7:30 pm
5638 Saratoga Blvd.
Corpus Christi, TX 78413

Complimentary beverages and appetizers will be available. There will
be a Pedestrian Beach/Resort Development presentation at 6:00 pm.
Donations will be accepted.

Also in the paper was a picture of a TV Production Crew.

Quote:
TV productions crew were busy this week shooting footage for the upcoming ad campaign by It's About Time Corpus Christi in support of the vehicle-free beach on Padre Island

Looks like they will be working overtime getting to the people who dont go to the beach or who couldnt careless about what happens on the beach.

Also in the North Padre Island Moon there was a article about the new beach bringing a new problem to the seawall. SAND AND MORE SAND is being blown up onto the seawall and they asked the city to keep the seawall clear of sand and the city cannot do that because the seawall is private property owned by several different persons or companies. Very Happy Is that justice or what.

rabbit, the City already blew $900,000 on the parking lot behind the seawall and getting ADA access from the lot to the top of that seawall, but they were still awaiting a design for getting the handicapped from the top of the seawall down to the beach. What you want to bet that the City will have to blow more money getting the blow sand off whatever they someday design and install?

Do they really think they can stop the sand build up without putting it back into the surf like they did in the past. Of course if they put it in the surf I wounder where it is going go from there. Very Happy

Does anyone have pictures of the pickup trucks for the films crews on the beach?

Would be a great "do what I say not what I do" ad campaign. Razz

Saw 3 vehicles made it past the berm and signs for a live interview with Channel 6 News @ 5 on the beach south of Packery. Never heard of these guys. Wondered if they staged this for the Beach Blockers. When the station broke away to the studio, the newscaster Eric Drawhorn suggested they'd take up where these guys left off at 6.

When Ch. 6 returned at 6, Eric had moved over near the highway bridge to announce the Packery opening and dedication ceremony was set for October 6 @ 2:15. No more interview with the drivers on the beach.

The city has no time to shovel the sand along the sea wall to prevent drifting. What makes anyone think they are going to keep a tram running.
I can hear it now Snexy calling his city councilman to get that @$&^$# sand off MY sea wall.
Those clowns dererve each other

If its not ADA accesible they are liable for lawsuit. They are basically required to do that.

Here is SA politics

http://www.rense.com/general63/bushs.htm

Ernesto and his friends played a prank on my family that we will never forget, as his daughters just sat around and laughed about it. What Ernesto and his friends do is break into families locked cars illegally and sneak listening devices inside to show his daughters if you have money you can do anything to anybody you want. SAPD knows about it. And to think SA City Council let them do it because they pay a lot of money in taxes.

If the sea wall is privately owned, how can the city maintain it? Also if someone got hurt on the wall who is responsible?

It cant. Only the portion where the city owns the parking lots. I think the owners maybe able to contract the city to take care of it for them, not sure if that is possible or not.
