I wonder if you could pin small ball bearing in it, that would rattle when you jig it. Also some kind of fin or deflector at the end of the tube that would make it wabble as it was jigged. Im thinking deep water, maybe if it was plastic or more bouyant you could work it like a spoon shllower for reds. All that copper sure looks like a redfish magnet.
Wish i would actually make stuff like that, instead of just thinking about it.
Need to catch soemthing on it, and post a pic. |

thanks...i'm still thinking of something to do to the tail end of it, i was thinking maybe a yellow ribbon for a tail or something to give it a little more action.
i do love the color though, it's a definite red killer. the one redfish i happened to catch on it was at about 1 am, and i didn't have my camera. the spot i usually go fishing at is really low on h2o right now, so i gotta wait for some good tide action before i can get some more use of these bad boys. as soon as i can catch some more fish on it i'll make sure and either get pix or video. thanks again for the replies. _________________ Jay

Those are the same shape as the Gotcha lures that are so go for smacks and kings, except for being hollow, should work well enough.
The other guys are right about swivels, definitely the week link in the chain.
Years back we were catching 9-13 lb reds in the bay using leaders supplied by the boat owner. I had one red in that size range pull a 50 lb swivel apart.................................................................................
You could also mount a weedless hook instead of the treble for the shallow grass areas. Weedless hook work GREAT, I have no idea why folks never use them! _________________ Dave

I thought too about some form of rattles. Maybe a couple of very fine holes you can run cable or mono through for attaching a few ball crimp weights inside. Maybe even run the balls down the back off the swivel?
?????
Very nice lures! _________________ Dreams come true to those that work while they Dream. |

ok, i finally got some time to try out the new lures, and they didn't do too bad. the fish i caught were all undersized, but it did do its job. i did add a small ribbon to the end of it just to see how it would do. here are the results
