Carry a few gallons of water, carry a flat shovel. Dig the mound of sand in front and back of your tires to help the tires start to roll and do not spin them. Then you can get it out easy if you pour the water in the soon to be driven over tracks you have cleared. All you gotta do then is drive out slow and easy.
Good luck!!!! |

I think he just omitted a word here:
Dig (out) the mound of sand in front and back of your tires to help the tires start to roll and do not spin them. _________________ certified whiting slayer |

OK, that method may work, unless yer in a 4runner buried to its axles, in the back of The Bowl, in blow sand, already in 4-low, 15psi. Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything. _________________ Jeff

Tried 20 gallons of water, 5 per corner. And spent 2 hours diggin it out. . . but ahh, that sand was really really soft there back (100 yards from the shore). Ran out of steam carrying water back and forth or I would have tried more. Not to mention the blowing sand kept filling in the what I was digging out.
Funny thing is, heading down to Big Shell, I've motored easily right through really bad sand that had two full sized trucks buried (they were getting pulled out by a monster truck). It's the risk you take, when you start feeling unstoppable with a 4x4, even one with a locking rear diff, big soft tires, etc. Lesson learned.
I'm going to pick up a high lift jack and pull the running boards off so I can get at a good place to attach it, to help with any future extractions. _________________ Jeff
