| I've noticed the Bob Hall pier is showing the water temperature at 76 after it being in the 80s for many weeks. What causes this change in temp and is there any chance that the cold temp accounts for the "sandy/muddy" water appearance and bad fishing that has been going on lately? |

If memory serves me right it seems that cold water upwellings bring tales of large shargs being caught in the surf. In particular, Tigers, Hammerheads and the occasional Mako. Maybe just a coincidence, or may be my synapse don't fire like they used to...if they ever did.

yes. the upwelling cold currents can also bring in water from the nepheloid layer. this causes all kind of mayhem with the fishing, as it typically drives fish away from it. _________________

| There's a pretty good cold upwelling on PINs from about the 25-45. Been there for several weeks now. |

I haven't been in the surf in several days but fished packery flats today and it was an unusually noticeable difference in the temp of that water rushing in, this explains it.
Saw a flounder sitting right in the one of the strongest shallowest areas of this current coming onto the flat. That was a first for me to sightcast to a flounder....didn't eat but it was cool to get such a good look. |
