They're baaaaack. Here's my opinion and it's my opinion only. Incase you got a beef. If you can't find or catch fish from a normal deck, you just ain't got what it takes, and thats my opinion. Now towers on gulf boats, got to have it, but thats a different story. I think the use of tower boats in the bays and flatz ought to be ...you know...banned. That too is IMS'S opinion only. I speak for myself, but if I were to look over my shoulder there would be enough folks back there that it would look like the Verison network. Very Happy

Redfish tournament this weekend. Just when the pressure lets up a little....boats start running over the fish "looking" for schools of redfish. I've never stood on a tower, or burned flats looking for reds, I guess I just catch them on accident. Oh Yeah...Arrow They are that way!!

I don't really understand the whole "tower boat" thing. I know for a fact that you can catch alot more fish in a poling skiff using a stealth technique than you can running in a tower boat. That's not my opinion, that's a fact. I went out with a friend last year in a tower boat that he was thinking of buying. We ran around and saw tons of fish. The problem was that they saw me too and were extremely hard to catch. It was neat to be able to see from up that high, but was very frustrating cause I knew that I could catch those same fish from my phantom. The other problem with a tower boat is that you will spend more time running and looking than actually fishing. Therefore, you will most likely burn all your fuel costing you more money than a normal trip.

Two things texans like, their towers and tunnels.

How bad will it be out there this weekend?

Hmmm. Doesn't sound like fun. I'll wait until Monday then; hopefully things will have returned to semi-normal.

So, I see the weight in will be between 2 and 4 pm on Saturday. Does this mean that Sunday the burner boats will mostly be gone?

If you see one with logos displayed burning shorelines or shallow flats where they are damaging seagrass, please take photos and post them up. A couple of years ago, a kayaker did just that of a sponsored team running inside LHL. He poste dthe photos on TKF. The president of the company responded to the post by the end of the day saying they had found out who it was and made them aware to no longer practice that tactic while in their boats. Last month it happened on B&R. The kayakers saw a logo-ed boat take off and shoot mud and grass into the air when it jumped up on plane. They didn't have photos but they confirmed the original post. Once again by EOB that day, the company president had spoken with both kayakers via phone as well as the guilty boat driver.

Bottom line --- many times these guys are sponsored and "displaying colors". Even tho those sponsors probably know they do it, they will take action when it gives them a bad name.

TPWD needs to enforce the "no harassing of wildlife" rule, which in my book is burning the flats.

You should be ok to fish this weekend as long as you stay south of birf island. Most of the boats will be fishing the back yard.
