I wouldn't bring anything from Florida to Texas for many reasons. However these are REAL popular here, relatively inexpensive, super shallow draft, and are fish catching machines!!!!!

I looked at those as well as the Gladesman from ECC.

http://www.eastcapecanoes.com/gladesmen.php

All basically canoes with a motor. Cool rigs. They pole really easy according to owners (including a fellow I talked with who fishes a Gladesman out of Port A). Only problem is, while they pole shallow, they don't run or get up shallow.

I eventually ruled them out as being too single focused and went with a skiff that is a bit better rounded for the extended flats we have here in the LM.

IMO only, I'm no expert. . .

Doesn't make any sense to me to design a boat for shallow water and then hang a long shaft motor on the back: Extra weight, extra expense and extra running depth!!!! Shocked

I like the look of the biggest one, especially with the polling platform over the motor.

Forget that! My supple bum is wider than that boat.

A buddy of mine on the mosquito lagoon has one. They are very tippy but do float extremely shallow. The only way to really fish out of one is either by yourself or with someone that has some experience fishing from a small poling skiff. Take a rooky out in one of those and someone will surely be swimming at some point.

I have a buddy that had one. We used to fish catfish in the Clear Fork near Abilene. Great for getting up and down the river and you can launch them anywhere. They also worked well in current and rough water, but we never ran more than 3 or 4 knots. When it comes to stability they are a lot better than a canoe, but that's not saying much when you're talking about running the bays.
