I'm done with PINS. My next camping and fishing trip to the Gulf will be Matagorda. I would ask any folks that have been there things like; Is it safe? Can you camp on the beach? Can you have a camp fire? Can you bring your pistol? Where is juanpescado? And any information I might need that would be different from camping and fishing down PINS? Thanks. L

Larry. Iv been fishing north of the sticks lately and its been pretty decent most of the time.. On a week day there is hardly anybody out there and you have the beach to yourself. I wont go to pins either until the shenanigans are over..

I went fishing last weekend at Matagorda and maybe saw 5 cars pass us. We went about 12 miles down the beach. That was the second trip for me down there and still haven't seen a lot of people. Yes you can camp on the beach, you will have to buy a parking pass $6 good for a year, we started a campfire, seems to be very safe, we took a pistol. We didn't see any kind of park ranger or anything like that. The water is a little bit shallower than PINS and for the most part a lot calmer. It was muddy this past weekend but the fish are there.

Thanks guys. I'm headed down soon. I've caught plenty of fish in less than 2' of water when the conditions were right. L
