This article could stir the pot. I won't get on the soapbox about limits, but I will say that fishing pressure down here is off the charts! I've never seen this many guide and recreational boats, and Saturdays are just insane. Personally, I've decided to take a break from guiding this Summer and have the luxury of being able to wait it out until the madness ends.

When I was young we would launch at Yarbrough Pass and fish the hole and the gutters. I remember when it was wall to wall fish in these locales. The run to Baffin Bay from Corpus was long, and we would have to take extra gas, but rarely did you see more than a few boats. Maybe the fish populations will endure this pressure.....I sure hope so.

At one time as David's article said there weren't many ways to get into the "Graveyard".
We really had spring tides then and the water would rise high enough for the fish to move into the hole from the flats and become trapped. We would alwasy drive down from the beach., had to walk a little ways but it was always well woth it...at the time. I can remember the gulls sitting on the backs of stranded redfish and drum...eating themwhile they swim.
By late summer most of the fish had gone blind and the only way to catch them was by using some type of dead bait or cut bait.
Don't ever remember seeing any boats in there back then....late '60s and early '70s.
Sure was nice down there then.

more & more boats are there in g-yard now. I really don't care for the guys that 'just drive' around in there towered boats looking for fish & never really fishing. i thought the 5 yr closure did some good with respect to haveing a better experience on the water. Good times are gone :cry:
