I am looking for some input from someone that has a Flatstalker? I know the owner's of the product and they are great guys and I am just looking for some input. Please feel free to PM me. My wife is having back problems with the kayaks and we are looking for options. I am also working with JerryB's to demo a Native Magic kayak, they have a different type of seat. Let me know if any of you have the Native Magic also. _________________ Capt. Ross L. McElwee

I have demo'd the flatstalker before. I thought it was hard to manuver/pole and the wind eats them up. There was guy in LHL 2-3 weeks ago in the bad wind that had a trollin motor on it. he was going backwards against the wind. I would think she would have a hard time poling that FS with a bad back and it aint big enuf for 2.
The Native has a really nice seat and it comes in 3 lengths now. However, the new Phase 3 seats in the Wilderness Systems Tarpon series boats is pretty darn nice too!!! They adjust 3 ways including the seat angle for supporting your legs. I have been very pleased with the comfort of the new seats. Check out the WS Tarpons too while you're at JerryB's. |

Buy from Jerry B's and get a kayak!
Look at the Hobies, too, http://www.jerrybskayaks.com/hobie.html. You can pedle and paddle them, but when I'm in mine I find myself peddling far more than paddling, and I can do it slowly, trolling speed for me, for 2 or 3 hours with no problem, rest, and then go on from there. They are more expensive, but they've (Hobie and Jerry B's) got great service, and the warranty is extremely good. Many Hobies come with four options: paddle, peddle, sail or a combination for those if you want to try.

| i own a Flatstalker bought it in January this year, I have probably used it 15 times because of the wind. If it is over 15mph dont bother I have a 50lb thrust motor on it and makes 1-2 mph into the wind. For the money 900 for the boat, 150 for the motor and 100 for battery and charger just buy a 14 foot jon boat on craigslist for the same price. it is great when the wind is less than 10 mph and it will float in less than 4" but needs 8-10 for the trolling motor. |

Thanks for the help guys. We are going to demo a flatstalker today or tommorow and see how it handles the wind while it is still blowing hard and compare to our Wilderness Tarpons. We are then going to meet Jerry B and try a Native Majic and see how the ride effects my wife's back. We should then be able to make a good decision. _________________ Capt. Ross L. McElwee

I bought one a month ago and love it I have a bad back and cant sit in a Kajak I love been able to sit up high enough to spot the reds. i have a 40lb thrust trolling motor on it and took it out in 20 mph wind with gust to 30 had no problem moving around. it is also great for gigging flounder. it is not fast, but I am retired and not fast either.you can stand on the ice chest and spot which is great. Only promblem I found is you can turn it over if you turn the motor sharp while going full speed, I fixed this by adding a stabilizer and now it will not flip no matter what you do. It will float in 4 to 6 in with motor up, i pole it when i go shallow. Call me if you have any ?. And NO I dont work for them, great buy if you like to set up on top, easy to get on and off to wade.

| I purchased a Flatstalker about 8 months ago. I have used it on area lakes and the coast. It works great and I have caught a lot of fish from it. It’s very stealth, I have poled up to where fish are and got right on top of them. Down falls, It better not be on a windy day. I have made plans and then having then canceled because of the wind. Now I’m a big guy, I’m 6’ and about 290 lbs. With me of course I make the Flatstalker top heavy and unstable. I made a set of home made outriggers and this has solved my problem. It’s awesome for fishing but would no try going long distance. It’s comfortable and I stay dry. I don’t have a trolling motor on mine. Good luck. |
