Thought I would start a new thread so we would'nt keep Highjacking troutslayers' .

My problem is, we are scheduled to come down this weekend and I was planning on buying a new yearly pass and yearly parking pass for Bird Island basin.
Now I'm not so sure, I can't be confident that I won't be harrassed even though I will be following all the laws and speed limit even though I don't agree with it. I will not be doing anything illegal but while down beach I might drink a few cold adult beverages. My wife would most likly be driving on the way out (she doesn't drink) and I certainly don't want her harrassed and possbly arrested !
Might be easier to forget PINS

you could always ask the folks at the entrance station on the way in if you will be searched and arrested on the way out Embarassed you know, kind of a heads up would be nice. arrange for bail and all that ahead of time.

and if its a weekday you could stop by HQ and ask Escoto the same question. you might even could call the rangers and ask them to search you in the beginning that way you don't have to worry about it the whole time you're down there, like a dark cloud hanging over your head when you're trying to simply relax with the family on the beach.

and do make sure to video any park staff speeding down the beach. you might could get some blackmail mileage out of it if you are stopped.

dang, I really am feeling pessimistic today. that sucks that folks are truly contemplating not visiting the park because of some practices occurring out there.

they really have gone too far, haven't they?

IMS,

Sounds tempting (LOL) but I'd better stay out in the condo I have rented, I don't camp well and besides then I'd have to bring my BIG fryer.

Laughing Thats great fetus.

But really. If you plan on following all the rules and dont care if they spend an hour of your time while your standing on the side of the road while they rip through your entire tackle box, pull door panels out, dig through your ice chests.. There you really have nothing to worry about.. Just plan accordingly and leave an hour ealier.. They dont get pissed and arrest you unless you use your 4th ammendent right and deny the search.

Pins has and IMO will always have some lawlessness. I spent two nights this past weekend and no one observed the new speed limit including me.The only problem I have with speeders is near my camp.SLOW DOWN going through camps.I saw one law enforcement vehicle (Game Warden) all weekend.Despite the Burn Ban we built a campfire as I have done almost every overnighter I've made for over 30 years.

I really think alot of things with NIPS are being blown way out. Seeing things for what they really are does anyone have any idea how much crap they have to put up with on any given weekend. I hear alot of stories first hand daily and it is nothing any of us would wish upon the other here. The seashore hasn't gotten any worse since the last time you visited probably just some things are being brought to light that has been going on for a long time. Enjoy the seashore and do the right thing and hope others do the right thing by you.

I think maybe that's their objective.
Drive away the fishermen so the turtle people and assorted whacko's can have the whole beach to themselves.

I love that beach but personally I'm gona stay away awhile. For me it's that ranger I hear horror stories about and how he is abusing his authority. That kind of thing tends to really piss me off and I don't need that kind of crap. I can only fish about 25 days a year, so when I get one I don't want a jerk like that to ruin it. PINS is a wonderful place, but I'll miss out on it for a spell tell this gets worked out one way or the other.

I have been to PINS at least 4 times in the last month and haven't even talked to a park ranger maybe just lucky I don't know.

TomCat made a good point, I was wondering if I was the only one that felt that way. It seems to me since the failed closing of the beach all of our beaches have been in the crappiest condition and additional regulations are making them less and less appealing.

Been runnning that beach since 1965-off and on.Used to go to Mansfield jetties in a 69Pontiac station wagon-at about 50 miles an hour.Never ran over a turtle!Guess it is all over now.Won't be doing the beach anymore-cause I refuse to be treated in that manner!
