Mods - If this is not in the correct area please move
Is the area to the south of the Packery Channel any good for reds/trout? I think this is called Lake Padre. I have rented a condo there this summer & wanted to hear any feedback. I am going to be in a yak playing around back there but didn't know how the fishing there was now that the channel is open - hoping it is better than in previous years. Or should I just paddle out to the channel & fish there? Thanks.

your best bet is paddling around the channell and fish the drop offs.. You can catch good fish in there.. at night the trout will come to the lights also.. its a neat little area to fish..

There are a bunch more houses on granada dr. with green lights that hold lots of fish. Also the bank across from the condo holds flounder and can be easily gigged. There's also a bunch of ribbon fish in the canals that will eat just about anything, are fun to catch, and make great kingfish bait. Jason Slocum

I may have to try that myself. _________________

The weekend was a lot of fun - caught some whiting and small trout behind the condo & 2 ribbon fish - wow never saw one of those before .... missed a huge one & I could have sworn it looked at me and was about to come say hi! We also went to the cos way pier at my father-n-laws request - lots of hard heads a small trout and my first sting ray. Pics will be up in a day or so.
