Depends on the moon, We usually have the best luck on a full moon throwing a black or blue chrome she pup. Also glittery D.O.A's under a poppin' cork.

Bright moon, black topwaters, lots of fun. Also, black spoons. Take your corroded gold spoons, spray paint them black and put them back in commission.

The best lure i have had the most luck on trout at night is the Mr. Twister 3inch curly tails in glow or white. Altough ive only used them under the lights with great success. Havent tried in the dark yet. We have caught a bunch when everyone else was trying a bit of eveything without any luck. Bass Pro or online are the only place i have seen the 3 in curly tail. Academy has the 2in i think and 3in in a different model. Havent seen the 3 inch there.

You guys just keep throwin' that black topwater. Apparently, you never read the book Plugger. The very best nightime lure I have ever used was a G-finish Jumpin Minnow. Unfortunately, the lure has been discontinued. I'm still much more likely to throw a white topwater at night unless the moon is full or nearly so. I have found dark moon nights to be much more productive than full moon nights.

Read it many many times. Grigar's favorite night lure was a silver sprite spoon. He would catch many limits on the coldest blackest nights on Hannas' Reef near Galveston. But, I will keep throwing the black, because it is better.

Mando, how you doing bud? I wish I was down the beach or offshore. The daily 25 knot winds are killing us though.
