Try to get a theme and a catchy name.BLUFF RATS NEVER INN
Food in baskets, burgers, fish 'n chips, shrimp, drum sticks(stolen from Snoopies) good fries plenty of munchies and maybe a popcorn machine with free popcorn and lots of salt. Peanuts on the floor.
Pool tables with weekend tournaments.
Sponsor a ladies soft ball team that gets the guys in.
Dart boards with dart leagues(gets them in every week.)
Tv using the closed caption feature.
Country music as rock all they do is dance and don't have time to drink.
Bar tenders that work instead of try to get hooked up or give the business away to their friends(good luck on that one)
A good bouncer
Posted rules that the bouncer enforces. No fowl language. Take that outside in the back of the parking lot.
A nice porch. Picnic tables work good.
Good luck
More as I think of it.
All the best |

Pretty good ideas so far i'm keeping a sharp pencil just incase I need to write something down. I haven't seen anything different, so far its all normal bar stuff. What kind of crowd do you want ? I prefer not to have the quarter tippers, fight starters, no colors worn in the bar but bikers are welcomed because they can drop some bucks, you want nothing that drives people away. Becareful of your wait staff and bartenders bars are easy for inside ripoffs on a daily basis. I come from a long line of bartenders and club owners. You have to trust who works behind the bar. Because you can't be there 24 hrs a day. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

I'm with IMS. Please post link to high resolution photo.
Good stuff funmeters. The softball/dart angle is a good one, wasn't thinking about that.
One day I'd like my own joint. Could be as early as 5 years. The biggest gating issue is a trustworthy person to run it. I'm a hands off guy. . . I'd give that person complete freedom to run the bar, and instead of a salary, a cut of the profits.
That's how I pay my key employees in my business and it's worked well for me. _________________ Jeff

| Have you ever been to one of Buffett's 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' bar and grill - great burgers and drinks. Somewhere between a bar built between beach theme and Harley theme would draw us in. The place we hang out here in OK is right down the street from where the local Hog group has their monthly meeting the first Wednesday of every month. They had a real good night the is past Wednesday, and we NEVER saw any trouble on biker night while we were doing karaoke there. |

| Inquiring minds want to know. The FUN METER model is a bartender in Barbados. I figured she would be far enough so I wouldn't have top pay royalties. I got to pin it on.......my hand is still shaking. Oh yea I did get a free refill in my Margareta. Amazing the milage I got out of those little puppies. |

All different brands of domestic beer, I can't tell you how many places don't carry my brand. I have even asked one local place on the island to carry it! They won't so I won't go back there!

Guys, you have mostly described the bar I am going to open a little later this year (except for the food)! Really. I am a fisherman who is about to live out "the Dream" (a place to go drink for free ).
My bar is going to be on the South side. Pool, Darts, Vid Poker, vid games, Juke box with country and rock and lots of Buffet (no rap) and if I can manage it, shufflboard. Going to have a "liars" wall where you can put up some pics. I already "talked" to Tyler about advertising. Would have been open in November except for the bank meltdown situation. I'll be about a year late but it's going to be fun!
