Does anyone one have good link or tips on explaining a good way or ways to cast a surf rod with a spinning reel. I can't seem to get the distance on the bait that I would like. Question

The Cannon is the way to go long distance with a spinner.
And, practice...

What type of gear are you using?

Rod brand and length?
Reel and line test?
Leader and bait you are trying to cast?

Several basic principles apply.

1. Your tackle should be balanced...rod, reel, line, leader, terminal leader and weight.

2. Spinning reels are designed for light line 12 to 20 lb line is good depending on the size of the reel. Anything over 20 lb test and you are losing distance.

3. Always use a shockleader minimum 40lb test no more than about 60lb test for a spinner; It depends what size tackle you are using. Shockleader should be rated 10lbs of test per oz of weight you are casting. 5-8 wraps around the reel. Less than 5 you are not safe, more than 8 likely too much and will decrease distance.

4. Use aerodynamic clip down terminal leaders for distance as well as an aerodynamic weight. Trim your baits to a slim profile.

5.When casting tighten down your drag to prevent the line slipping during the cast. Using a Breakaway Cannon holds down the line eliminating line slip and prevents finger injury. Or, use a glove or finger guard to hold the line.

6. A smooth well timed cast will get you a lot more distance than a quick muscled cast.

7. There are several different casts you can use that will get your bait out there. Learn them and practice them.
