Went out this afternoon and my buddy brought 2 of his boss's. The five of us ended up with 10 Redheads with the last bird down being a banded Redhead drake. The guy who shot it had only been duck hunting on one other occasion . Lucky! Anyway here are a few pics.

Nice. He didn't by accident rip the head off did he? I only ask because of the way he's holding the head in both pics. Let us know the info if you can when you get it. I'm always curious. Thanks for sharing. _________________ Save the seagrass......Shoot some ducks |

No it was all in tact. He doesnt duck hunt much. In fact it was only his second duck hunt ever. I tried to explain how to hold it to him but thats what the pic ended up like. He didn't really even know it was that big of a deal to shoot a banded bird. That day I was sitting under the blind blowing my calls and calling out the direction the birds were coming in to the everyone in the blind. We were down to one bird to finish out everyones limit of Redheads when I saw a nice drake come in an decoy perfectly. I yelled for someone to take it and when Dutch brought it in and I noticed the band, I asked who had shot it, he pointed at someone else thinking he had done something wrong. Once we explained the band to him he then claimed his bird, but I dont think it really sank in how lucky he was. I explained that many people go years without getting one and compared it to catching a 30" Trout that he seemed to realize how bid a deal it was. He kept the band but we cleaned the bird. If it would have been mine it would be on my wall. |

That's funny about him thinkin he had done something wrong. I hope to mount all the banded birds I shoot (when I get lucky enough to shoot one), but if the bird wasn't mount worthy or just shot up too bad, then I'd take the band off too. _________________ Save the seagrass......Shoot some ducks |
