Newly retired Texas State Game Warden Mike Bradshaw of Carrizo Springs, Texas, age 61, passed away January 19, 2008, in Port Mansfield, Texas, of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services are at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 22, at the First Baptist Church in Carrizo Springs. Graveside services will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mike Bradshaw was born in Crystal City, Texas, on October 7, 1947, the son of Farrell Wayne Bradshaw and Ima Jean Bostic. He graduated from Carrizo Springs High School and attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde and was graduated from the Texas State Game Warden Academy at Texas A&M University in College Station in 1973. He was assigned to Dimmit County where he remained for his entire career, where he was mentored under Texas Game Warden Jim Pond. Mike Bradshaw spent thirty-five years as a Texas State Game Warden with the Parks and Wildlife Department, retiring May 31, 2008, he resided in the southwestern part of the Lone Star State for most of his life. He entered law enforcement in 1970 as a deputy game warden and later accepted a job as a deputy sheriff. Following basic training at the Bexar County Sheriff's Academy in 1971, he served first in Dimmit County and later in Concho County as a deputy sheriff. In addition to holding a Master Peace Officer's License, Bradshaw was certified as a law enforcement instructor. A specialist in wildlife crime scene investigations, Bradshaw lectured on such forensic disciplines as interpretation and analysis of geometric bloodstain patterns, bullet wound identification, various tests to estimate time of death in white-tailed deer and the art of tracking and sign cutting. His audiences have included city police, county sheriffs, Federal Park Rangers, U. S. Border Patrol Agents as well as game wardens from across the nation. Presentations include training classes in Texas, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Tennessee and at Central Missouri State University's National Hunting Incident Investigation Academy. In 1995, wildlife conservation organization Shikar Safari International honored Bradshaw as Texas Game Warden of the Year. After retirement in 2008, Mike Bradshaw was employed as a Border Liaison Officer by the Governor's Division of Emergency Management/Texas Department of Public Safety at the Joint Operations Intelligence Center in Edinburg,Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife Deborah Ann Griffin Bradshaw, originally of Coleman County, Texas, daughter Leslie Phillips and son-in-law Todd Phillips of Houston, son Jacob N. Bradshaw and daughter-in-law Inga Bradshaw of Stockdale, Texas. Surviving grandchildren are Matthew, Victoria and Peyton Phillips of Houston and Kailey and Eli Bradshaw of Stockdale, Texas, and sisters Linda Kay Schauer of Lacoste, Texas, and Jan Mitchell of Carrizo Springs as well as brother Patrick Bradshaw of Caldwell, Texas.
