Fishing Rod, Melia and I deceided to hit the beach yesterday.
Alarm went off at 5:30am, went to wake Melia my four year old daughter up and she already heard me coming. Eyes wide open she asked, "are we going fishing".... Shocked
Packed the truck and headed to Rays. Got the gear loaded into Ray's SUV and headed out. The whole time down Ray and I were talking. I thought Melia was catching up on her sleep, but to my surprise she was looking out the window watching the light pass by. She stayed awake all the way down Shocked. Stopped by Nicks to say hello and hit the beach.
Since this was a Run and Gun trip we started out at the wreck. Turned off the blacktop and saw flat surf and no wind. A great day for the long rods. It was beautiful!!! Got to the wreck and casted two HDX's with double hook rigs and got Melia rigged up the same way. The only bite going on was Whiting, getting one every 15 minutes or so. Melia was content to playing on the beach right in front of her rod. I noticed that her rod tip was moving a little and I thought it was just the current or the waves. She asked it she could check her bait and I told her to reel it in. While bringing it in the rod bent towards the beach and the hold holder went the same way. I thought the sinker was stuck. I went over to help her get the sinker out, lifted the rod turned the handle and felt the thumping of a fish on the other end....
The rest was history....

HOLY MOLY!!! Shocked Did you have to hold her by the britches to keep that red from dragging her in?????? Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Man, that is REALLY something! She is HOOKED for life I'm sure. If I had caught a red that big at her age I'd STILL be beaming! Very Happy
