The wife and I were headed home last evening and I noticed a dredge rig, discharge pipe and tender tug headed south under the Kennedy Bridge.
Could this be the dredge headed to Mansfield to work the East Cut?
Anyone have any updated information they might want to share on the time table for the dredging in Mansfield?

Mike

Thanks for the information....lets hope that is where the dredge was headed. I understand that they are supposed to be finished by the summer of '09.
I'm sure that project will make alot of people happy in Port Mansfield and if thing hold true to history the project should help Baffin and the ULM also.
Very Happy

Just got a call.
That may or may not have been the barge. I was told it's not in place yet but they had 30 days from the award of contract to get equipment set.
I bet that was them because there are no other projects south of C.C. that would require the kind of equipment you described.

P.S.
(Word is they will dredge from the jettie mouth all the way in to A dock.)
Correction-Plans only show westerly limit of dredging just west of the rocks. The city now has there own dredge to maintain harbor issues.

I'm still freakin' giddy!
Like a kid on Christmas morning. Very Happy

Thanks again.... I wouldn't think it would be in place yet. As slow as they have to travel it might take a couple of days to get there. It was about this time yesterday(6:30p) I saw it. I'm kinda' like you pretty excited about it. Back in the '70s and '80s it was nothing to see all kinds of fish life on the flats down there. One day we had a big hammerhead stealing
our redfish off the hook just south of the Saucer. Really cool.
Always wanted to live there....might consider it again now.

I know the main thing is to open the jetties, but sure would be nice if they had some more scratch to get that big barge to go all the way into the harbor. That little one they have does a spot about as big as my driveway every 2 or 3 days, then requires two shade tree mechanics and a few cases for another 2 or 3. Smile
