We got word that the redfish bite and the finger mullet run was on Friday so I took Dad Saturday out to meet Skipper and Karen Krueger for some surf fishing on Mustang Island.
Skipper and Karen got there about 7:30 am and Dad and I showed up just after 8. They already had three Speckled Trout and a Large Spanish Mackerel in the ice chest.

It was a great day as we had action almost the entire 4 hours we spent there. Lots of other fish we didn’t keep such as small bluefish, hardhead catfish and ladyfish.

Here is Skipper with a fat 6lb Speckled Trout. You can see the dunes are cut steep from Ike and some of the debris that is left. It still is amazing to think that the fishing could recover in less than a week since Ike’s landfall.

Here is Dad with a 25 inch Redfish

And here is what Dad and I brought home

It was a great morning!

We thought we could do it again yesterday but things were a bit different. The wind was stronger but the finger mullet were still thick. We got lots of small and one large ladyfish. Skipper and Karen got a small trout a slot red and this 5lb Bluefish.

No keepers Sunday for Dad, son Bryan and me.

Nice report and pics of fish...

And was wondering, did ya'll catch those fish South of Bob Hall off of P22...Or North of Bob Hall on Mustang Island off of P53 OR 361...
In the pics, it actually looks like North of the Packery...
Heard the redfish bite has been good at PC, MI North Jetty and the Fish Pass area, and hoping to get down there again soon....

Thanks, in advace..Steve

We caught them north of Fish Pass on Mustang Saturday. They weren't there in spite of the finger mullet being there on Sunday so we headed a mile or so south of Bob Hall. It was even slower there but Karen did catch a keeper red and my son Bryan got a rat red. The finger mullet were there but only a few small skipjack were eating them.

Thanks, Tyler...

It seems the bite has slowed down with the stronger winds...
But hopefully the wind will calm down a bit later in the week... Wink

Thanks again for info, Steve

Nice fish guys!

Hopefully the conditions will stick for this upcoming weekend and those fish will move south to PINS. I'm getting ready.

Hey Tyler,
We were north of the Fish Pass Sunday, there was a late bite. I caught my fish from 11am-1:30pm tide dropping and in the first gut.
