Those wreckers used on Big Trucks dont even start their engines for less than 400 dollars.

LOL!!!!!

Bid Ed, thats a crazy story. Bummer about the ride but atleast it all worked out eventually.

Just be careful on the sand and dont think your vehicle is unstoppable is probably the best advise.

About three years ago it cost me $700 and took two tow trucks to pull me out at the 6mm. Expensive but not quite as expensive as $40,000. I probably had another hour before the tide swallowed my Powerstroke.

In any event, the bronco is paid for, only has liability insurance, and aint worth that much to begin with. If its going to cost 3k to get it out, I'd be tempted to mark the coordinates on my GPS, hitch a ride back to town, and watch this board until I heard about someone catching a fish on "the rawlbay."

Same goes for my 99 Ford escort.
Figuring, worth about $2000 with high mileage. Razz

But also figuring you'd be liable, if left it there.
And would have to pay charges to someone else to remove it, plus any storage fees. 3k+.Rolling Eyes
What a NIGHTMARE that could be.Shocked

So, I would just pay friend (figuring$200) to come pull it out or tow it back home.
I do it for $200 for a days work, minus $100 in gas.

Dang, I definitely need a job bad. To be willing to work 12 hours for $100.
Anybody needs some carpentry, painting, roofing work let me know. Wink

Just waiting for the SAG strike to end. Dang actors, are killing me. Laughing

gack around the 4th of july, had a guy go to the land cut in 2wheel drive, got stuck in the wade gut going around a bouy that blocked the road, all i asked his buddies to do was to take him to the other side and i would take tow him home.. this was not even a mile from the jetties.
after they tore up the pass, i was not about to risk getting stuck, because no one would be able to get my diesel out..
i could of made it with out a problem, but kinda glad that i didnt..
by the time we were ready to go, his buds left him behind and his vehicle on the south side of the bouy.. and pass was still fairly soft and shifting.. not poulling another vehcile that got sucked up just hours before..
if i had oversize tires, would not have phased me, but still have the stock highway tires on the 2006 2500 dodge.. not enought experience with that vehicle in such condditions.
park rangers new that we secured it in the dunes, and he made it back few days later in better conditions. but it was still totalled.. water all the way above the dash on the inside..

got to be carefule

I remember that too! I had the Trooper then and found out he had help on the way before I left. Though with that Trooper there was not much I could do to pull him out anyway - too heavy!

Getting stuck is bad news...

I came across some guy from Oklahoma that was driving a FORD TAURUS and had become severely stuck at the 25mm

He had is kid with him so we decided to pull over and try to help him out.. Big mistake.. The tow strap broke and sent my jeep about 3 feet from the surf where it became buried like I did not even thing was possible (It’s a Rubicon with locking differentials).. We dug it out for 2 hours and as fate would have it Jeff (from this board but I can’t remember his member name) came driving back from Mansfield and pulled me out using our backup strap (Thanks again Jeff)..

I was VERY worried about paying 2K plus to get my Jeep out =/

Nothing personal against wrecker drivers, and understand paying even $4000 to save your $40000 vehicle...Or to keep your insurance rates from going up on a claim like that...

But, HMMMMMMM
If a crippled handicapped person falls out of there wheel chair in distress, in the middle of the street...And offer you $500 to put them back in there wheelchair...Would you take the $500...Please, Spare Me The Grief...

Or lets say if you run out of gas...Whose fault, nobody's but yours.
But who knows, maybe for some reason your fuel gauge got stuck.
Anyhow, your parked close to shoreline.
Someone comes buy with a $5.00 gas can.
And you say, I'm out of gas.
You say I'll give you $500 for that 5 gallons.
Person says ok.
It's a win,win for both parties...If your only choice to keep from a chance to get your vehicle flooded, and most likely totalled.
Or wind up having to pay $2000-$3000 for a wrecker company you just talked to...To pull you out, being you now in less than a few hours...The tide will be up, and not just out of gas...
But your vehicle will be slowing sinking, and stuck for sure...
$500 for 5 gallons of gas, cheap I guess you could say...

Now if the person with the 5 gallons off gas...Thinks he can take advantage of the situation, and says I'll give you the 5 gallons of gas for $1000.

Probally, still a win,win for both parties.
And know doubt for the person with 5 gallons of gas...

But is know doubt, IMO taking advantage of someone...

But is it right, or is the the write thing to do...
..........DON'T THINK SO MY FRIEND...........
...............I REST MY CASE................
