I make a trip to NC every 3 or 4 months to check on our office there and normally it is a long and boring trip. This time, my boss asked if I could delay my trip till this week.
I was ask to go help entertain some clients. Saturday morning, we are headed out of Cape Hatteras to fish the Grand Banks !!!!
I have heard a little bit about it and as I sit here in the Austin Airport I think it will be a couple of long work days till we get to head out. I am needless to say looking forward to it.
I at least remembered my camera so hopefully, Monday I'll have a bunch of pictures of Mahi and tuna to share. |

Well , I made the trip and back home safely. The fishing was off which is about par for the course. It was an interesting trip and I got to see some country that I had not prior.
The run out of the inlet and Naggs Head was a little rough with 8 foot rollers but not too bad. Once you got out of there it was a easy ride, the next thing to calm.
First thing I found out was the Capt. wasn't the Capt. he was the frist mate ???? Then we had a mate that did all the rigging ans such. I think they did a good job, the mate rigged Ballihoo as we ran out to fish. 4 lines in the water and working on the rest when the first hit accurs. Nice sized Mahi. I'm thinking we are going to slayem but it was not to be . We never caught another.
We finally went to a spot a caught some tile fish which i was not familiar with but fun to catch. Later that afternoon the one really exciting thing was we raised a Blue in the spread, he made a run at two different baits but didn't eat,,,, oh well. Nice trip anyway and ewe didn't hear of anyone really doing good.
Heres the mahi in the water
