I had a big fish fry last night, with of course the never ending discussion of what is the best fried bay fish, we had trout & redfish, this time the trout came out on top for 3 out of 4. What is your favorite?

For frying catagory it's hard to beat Croaker fried whole with touch of salt & pepper.

Speaking of Croaker, anyone catching any decent size at Packery Jetties or canal/channel? Let me know, gotta go get some...fry some up. Cool

The bay fish are very good, but Snapper, Grouper and Amberjack are high on my list also.

My vote goes to yellow perch of this group. I remember as a kid(5-9 yrs old) going out in a rowboat with my parents on Lake Mendota in Madison, Wisc. and catching 25 jumbo perch apiece on worms. They are the sweetest tasting fried fish you can find. Being that my mom was a great cook may have had something to do with it. All the restaurants and roadhouse bars near any of the lakes in that area had Fri perch fish fries.

I'd go with trout just about every time, no wait.... flounder, no... Reds. Uhhh. Confused

I guess it really doesn't matter as long as I get out to catch and eat them. D.

That reminds me Rabbit, I missed Kris's Kitchen yesterday on Babe Winkleman's Outdoor Secrets.

I was hoping to see that walleye soup recipe where she uses enough cream, bacon and cheese to clog two men's arteries for a lifetime. Very Happy

Fried crappie is awfully good as mentioned too!
