From time to time you guys get asked some non fishing related questions and I have always been impressed with the level of response so i thought I would shoot this one out. I am looking for inground pool safety options and contractors that deal with that sort of thing. I have researched options and the mesh pool cover is the ront runner so far, but have yet to find anyone with any first hand knowleadge of them. Any help, thoughts prayers, offers to go fishing would be greatly appreciated. My kids are 5 and 9 and if we cannot find something we feel comfortable with we will not be able to buy the house.
Thanks in advance. |

Swimming lessons. I learned when I was 4. That's the best solution I can think of.
I have not seen any covers on pools like you mentioned only those blue bubble wrap cut to fit covers that retain heat. |

Best tools I have seen are like baby monitors that float in the pool. When something makes a wave it signals an alarm that sounds in the house etc.
I have to agree with Tyler, lessons. |

We're closing on our house on padre in two weeks, and will be putting a pool in. Kids are 7 and 5. 7 y/o is a fish and would have no problems if she fell in; I think she is growing scales; great swimmer. My 5 y/o would be in severe danger and w/o question would drown.
I plan on two things. First: http://www.infantswim.com/home.html Check the video.
Second, plan on drilling into the deck and placing a temp mesh fence around the pool; the sort that is designed to pull up and roll into spool easily and quickly. Don't have a link though.
EDIT: here you go http://www.poolfence.com/product.htm
ugly, but once the kids are skilled, remove permanently _________________ Jeff

Yeah, swimming lessons already done and I figure that by the end of the summer they will be able to hold their own. I was reading a study that says knowing how to swim is not enough so I was just looking for a little more to ease my own mind.
Hey frayed, I lookind nto those fences and they are pretty cool. A friend of mine and her husband build pools and actually do those fences, but I am opting for the nets like loop lock or katch a kid. If you need their number for the fence or the pool I can get it for you. I have never seen any of their work, but can attest to the kind of people they are. I would let them work on my house.
Thanks for the time guys, much appreciated. |

| PS Now I will be closer to the "real backyard" according to IMS so maybe I can catch some fish. New house is off Cimarron past Saratoga...a lot closer than Ingleside |

Youll be happy being that much closer to the Bluff. The closer you get, the more you fish. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

My parents had me in swiming lessons before I could walk.... really. In addition, I have scales and are damn proud of them _________________ Posted by

The law says that a swimming pool is an attractive nucence. That means you are responcible for anyone who may enter your pool (invited or not). This means that you must restrict access to yor pool at all times. If you have been respnable and prudent in this than now all you have to worry about is your family & frineds.
1st rule in swimming safety is to learn to swim & swim well.
FB offers both lessons & has an excellent swim team that begins in J.H.
2nd rule in swimming safety is never swim alone.
The motion monitor/alarm noted earlier is a great idea.
Anyone that has kids that swim like fish (or want too) ....... send them to the Bluff...the water is great! |

We do not have a pool but we do have a very large Koi pond. When we bought the house the kids were 1 and newborn, so the pond safety was a big concern. We had a net installed by Katchakid and it works and looks great. On a couple of ocassions we have had a kid fall on it and it worked like a champ. It will keep a child up to 35# almost completely dry and a kid bigger than that will sag a few inches into the water. Its also really easy to take off and put back on. The pond is the size of a very small pool and I think the cost was about $1200. You can check it out out www.katchakid.com _________________ A flute without holes, is not a flute.
