Heck if there was a bus to big shell you would have to park your vehicle in a place that is patroled daily by thiefs...i'd rather spend my money on gas. In fact i'm going to buy a bigger truck. Very Happy

I was standing in line to buy a money order at a convience store this evening when the lady in front of me told the clerk she wanted to buy $3 of gas. I was thinking about how hard things were for here untill she told the clerk she also wanted 3 lotto tickets. Go figure.

good point....I recall an article stating that we can't be too bad off with people spending millions on Grand Theft Auto 4....it all depends where you want to spend your money..

me, well, we are thankful for our own tomatoes (heb has recalled their romas), we love chicken wings, and although we can't get to PINS yet, we are enjoying the time spent with our 14 and 17 year old kids while we can. We'd love to be fishing but have found ways to make do...

The economy grew at .9% for the first Q, that's a 3.6^ annual rate,,productivity is up, and retail sales last month were higher than expected. Yep, sounds like a recession.

BTW, gas prices have to hit the mid $5 per gallon to equal the same cost per gallon on an inflation adjusted basis that we saw in the 1970's.

Big oil makes $0.04 yes 4 cents per gallon of gas in profit, the store 5 cents, the US and state governments average 35 cents a gallon. Yeah, and they are questioning oil companies about windfall profits and high prices. Rolling Eyes And the liberal congress is passing an "energy" bill that would add an addtional 25 cents of tax per gallon, to fund more alternative fuel production and further drive up food costs. Mad Mad Mad

Norht Dakota has more oil under it than Saudi Arabia, of the highest light sweet quality, and Alaska has that much again, but our politicians won't let them drill for oil there because of envirnomental concerns, but they have the nerve to threaten to sue the Saudis for not pumping at full capacity. Confused Rolling Eyes

Japan, India and China all have plans to drill in international waters just off the coasts of Cali, Florida and the East Coast to tap OUR oil via slant drilling. Mad But we again won't allow ourselves to claim our own oil. Confused

Anyone see a pattern here? Wink If you want cheap oil call or write your congressman / congresswoman and tell them to lower oil prices, and let us drill at home for our oil now!

Even more important, don't forget to vote for politicians in November who understand that the current liberal policies are garbage!

America wanted a change and voted in a lot of liberals. Now it's time to pay them. God help us in November. Scares the crap out of me.

WE have more oil sitting under us then anyone can dream of. Years ago I heard on oil man say "We will use up theres and then we will be the big boy's on the block" I guess he was right. But at our expense.

I worked in Houston during the "big oil shortage" what a joke. They had the tankers anchored over the horizon at sea and wouldn't let them in to off load them. I worked in the refineries.

Gov inspectors would show up and the refineries would start pushing there oil to each other underground. It was a game. Yes they are all connected to each other. All up and down the Houston ship channel. When the inspector would leave one plant they would move the oil from the next plant they were going to back to another one so everyone looked like they were low on oil.

You got it right, Big John! Donna and I just returned from 10 or 11 days down at PINS, after driving a 29' motor home and my pickup pulling a 16' trailer - I don't know what the motorhome got gaswise, but I konw my pickup got about 14 mpg avereage and the total miles for the trip was 1975 miles on it. That was 665 down and 667 back, plus a few trips to PA and back to PINS plus the runs down the beach. Thank your lucky stars that you live there or close to there. You makes your choices and then you lives with them. As for us, we choose to do our our conservation here where we can so that we can afford the $1,000 + gas bill to do what we love to do so much. It could be, and probably will be, much worse. Look for anywhere between $8 and $12 per gallon inside of two years. As much as we do not like that, our passion is to be on the beach at PINS. We will make whatever sacrifices are necessary to make that happen.

What we need YOU to do is to look at the sticky at the top of the page from Billy Sandifer to acknowledge and spread the word to everybody you know about the turtle nesting situation. We will do whatever is necessary to invoke our power to enable our abiity to be on the beach, but we depend so much on those of you there to make our continued access viable.

Please assist Capt. Billy Sandifer in his every effort to preserve all of our rights to access the beach. Donna and I are putting our money where our mouth is to help him make that happen, but WE NEED YOU to provide active personal, moral, vocal, and financial assistance tp him to make that happen. He is one man, among just a few, that puts his being where his heart lies. Please help him, you help us all when you do.
