I hit the water paddling early this morning, caught a few small trout potlickin some piers on the way out. The water was glass on the two-mile paddle, water looked like clear sludge, nothing but a ripple. On the 2nd cast at "the spot" my pink skitterwalk got blown 5 feet out of the water. Keeper on the 3rd cast, small croaking male tout-good sign Smile Next few cast water boiled left right all around, then WHAM, whale tail flops as the drag starts singing! FISH on and going biserk-I lost the grip on my pole, got it together, and caught my pole by the last inch of the cork in my right hand, was on one knee in ankle deap water, and the water was BOILING with big mama trout! The fish cut a wake for 50 yards-ripping line. Finally got her turned and watched a trout the length of my leg circle, anc circle, and circle me-then in one leap at 20 feet she cleared the water and sent the pink skitterwalk back my way! NO!!! #(*@*(#@)!(@ NO! I looked around-a boat full of onlookers who had sneaked in behind during the excitedment twitched their croakers and shook their heads-they got a great show, and unless sailors learned a few words. Two casts later I caugth the "little" one in the picture, not nearly as fiesty as the one that got away, but nonetheless a blast. Ten minutes later, I spot a LOG of a trout in 10 inches of water, shes doing that in and out/back and forth bantering-not 15 yards away. I threw all 142 lures in my tacklebox in front or her without so much as a movement, then while tying on lure 143, another Baffin big girl swam off to the rocks, she is now well educated-but I'm going back after that one that threw my skitterwalk, to be continued....[/img]
