I saw the tail end of a news story the other day about rebuilding the oyster reefs in Copano. Anyone know more about that? The news showed a barge with a pile of oyster shells on it. Were they taking them out or putting them in and how long are they going to be doing it?

I believe the nature conservancy is going to be rebuilding reefs in Copano bay. I will start my thesis work this summer doing food web ecology on the reefs in Copano bay. We also have to do a ground check of aerial satellites photos for TPWD. Jason Slocum

Keep us informed Jason. I haven't fished Copano in over a year and was thinking of trying it later this year. I don't want waste gas and time though if there is going to be work going on in there.

I think its just one reef in one spot, but if its successful there might be more built in the future. Jason Slocum

Excuse my ignorance, but is/has there been a problem with the reefs?
