launched from the causeway around 10pm in search of big uglies. got out in the channel and anchored up and threw out a nice size crab. to occupy my time i also brought a trout rod with some speck rigs. before i could pick up my trout rod the big ugly rod goes off. after a 15 minute battle the brute surfaces to be leadered, only when i reach down for the leader i realize i have a MONSTER stingray on!! i'm guessing 30-40lbs, i've never seen a ray that big in the bay. needless to say i wasn't sticking my hand down there to leader it so i hope the fishing gods forgive me for cutting the line. i re-rig and my buddy calls who was bank fishing on the other side of the channel. he said 5 keeper trout in 5 casts. so i paddle to the other side, anchor up, get out my big ugly line, and start throwing speck rigs. long story short, fished until about 12:30 and lost count of how many trout i caught. the vast majority were 14-16", with about 10 more at 17-18", and rounded the night out with a 20"er and fat 24"er. it was ridiculous. several times i had two on at a time, with both fish being keepers. no big uglies out of the yak but who's complaining?! my friend on the shore even ended up with a few keeper flounder. awesome night on the water!

The business about whether or not to cut the line when you hooked the ray - it was an IQ test. From your action, it is clear - yours is very high! Nice report.
