Is there a certain type of belt worn when surf fishing if you are using the large surf rods, 10'6" to 13'6"? If so, what is it and where can you get them?
Thanks,

No Ray, unless you mean a fighting belt. We generally either hold them if we are wading to the first bar or wade out to cast them out and then put them in a rod holder aka PVC pipe stuck in the ground.

That's what I was talking about, Tyler, but forgot what to call it. I was reading somewhere (one of the Texas forums) and thought I saw a reference to a fighting belt and the surf, and didn't know if I needed something like that or not, so I thought I would ask.

Nick of Breakaway uses a small leather fighting belt when utilizing the backcast with heavy surf rods and bait. It helps keep the rod butt where it needs to be when executing the cast.
