Here are a few pictures from fishing on the Packery channel. We did not so bad. We actually did better that night than we did the rest of the weekend. Most of the fish were caught on live piggies with a slip weight.

Great catch!!! We fished the packery over the weekend with only small croakers, a few whiting and 1 decent sand trout. Tried live piggies, finger mullet and croaker but no luck during the day. Looks like ya'll did a whole lot better than we did!! I'm assuming they were all caught at night under the lights. Nice set up by the way. I knew when the packery 1st started being built it would be a productive spot especially at night with lights. Of course the timing and conditions have a huge part in success the only way to know if they are biting is to get out there urself and try cuz they may be biting one minute but as fast as it starts it could be over the next minute. Thanks for the report!

I drove through packery on Saturday just to check it out, saw 4 people fishing on the rocks, several other boats going through and even a couple of them fishing. I did not see any sign that says "CLOSED" The current in between the barges was great, all of that water heading to the grass flats and taking lots of bait with it, birds working like crazy at different points along the way. Can you use this water or not?

i know u can fish the packery via a boat. I have seen and heard of people getting ticketed from the jetties itself. If im not mistaken thats the only area that is currently restricted. I saw several vehicles past the barges-Hwy going towards the jetties parked on both sides of the packery. This im not sure if it is legal or not.

We fished right next to the barges that are parked near the bridge off the bank. To me it is all public water ,then we should to be able to fish it however we want Evil or Very Mad (as long as it not blocked off or fenced in). If its illegal I want a refund on my fishing license, or at least a discount, but that is another issue. As far as the jetties are concerned, I don't know if that is off limits or what? The next time we go down, we want to set up those light on the jetties (Fish Pass or Packery) and then drive down on PINS and set them up down there, near a wreck would be killer Twisted Evil .

East of the bridge on 361 is off limits until the construction is finished and that includes the jetties. But if you cant read then I guess it doesnt matter. Very Happy
