| i'd like to hear some recommendations for electric fillet knives. I've never used one, always used my trusty rapala filet knife. thinking about an electric one for christmas. |

Bass Pro Shop knife. Save your money. Had one, took it back. Now I just use the old standby hand powered one. I have thought about getting another one but the shock factor always played into it. Electricity and water don't mix. Don't like that ZAP you get sometimes. Would make the hair on my head stand up (if I had any). |

I use the mister twister green and yellow. Have had it for a about 3
years now without ANY problems other that what TD mentioned. I too got a small zap once when my hands were wet. Now i just try and keep them dry as much as possible never have had any problems after that. They work Awesome on trout, VERY good on anything else. I simply replace the blades about every 6 mos or so or as needed. I use it for everything , fish, slicing brisket, turkey to cutting tomatoes and onions. Makes things a breeze. Well worth the 20$ i spent on it. Ive seen the saltwater mr twister, havent gave it a try as i havent had the need to. BTW, i do all the cleaning myself when my family goes fishing as i hate watching my bro or dad turn the fillet into hamburger meat. I have filleted trout and white bass including removing the bones in under a minute, i think my best time was about 45 seconds to get 2 perfect boneless fillets! |

Electric knives that Academy sells are about the same when compared to each other.
One different item to note: look at the blades, you will see a difference between fine toothed and more course.
Do not buy the rechargable fillet knives if you clean more than 1 fish at a time. They will last for some time, but even when new they run down in a hurry.
I do not know what you guys are doing when cleaning your fish, but I have never been zapped with my knife. It is usually better to clean fish at home rather than standing in the water and using your boat deck as a fillet table - j/k. I think this is a redneck thing.
You guys be careful. |

| I have been zapped by the regular one you carve a turkey with when I had some water on my hands. |

I use a B&D I bought about 7 yrs ago at "Foleys" for 20.00
It broke once, the little palstic piece that moves the blades back amd forth.
I called the 800 # on the paperwork(yea I'm one of those guys who saves all my papers)any way they mailed me a new one for free 3 days later I had it! |

| I know I have seen over 30 trout cleaned in under 10 min with the mister twister green and yellow. I am told that with a little practice you will never want to go back. |

Mr Twister is the way to go. I have filleted a lot of fish with mine, you can ask Tyler. It is very fast and I haven't been bit by it yet...Adios
Skipper
BTW, Redfish rib cages are tough on any electric fillet knife, even NON electric knives. |

Mr Twister. You can buy spare/replacement blades for them at about any big box spoting goods store.
I dont like the shock either.... it makes me spill my drink. |
