No, goatfish have barbels under the chin. Atlantic threadfin, AKA eight-fingered threadfin and whiskerfish, Polydactylus octonemus have detached rays on their pectoral fins. _________________ The Trash Heap Has Spoken!

Good eye. I am not frequently in error when it comes to wildlife/fish ID.
Thanks for the lesson. _________________ Dave

I never caught one on peeled shrimp. Snagged a few with a spoon. Some kind of lackadaisical fish. They do make pretty good cut bait if one can snag one of em. _________________ Pinsbeach

Photos taken 9-10-05. Didn’t know what they were. Always through them back. Looks like a hardy bait. Are they legal?[/img]
Don't know what these are either. |

| He said they are a delicacy in Hawaii. He called them Moi and would trade any fish in his ice chest for one. Kind of looks like an overgrown yellowtail that you catch on the piers to me. |
