What type of lenses are the best for fishing.
I currently have a pair of CDM's with the blue mirror lenses.
I recently read an article by Cliff Webb that stated the virmillion lenses were the best for fishing.
Any comments.

The vermillion lenses make the fish much more visible to me, especially the redfish. I say go with the vermillion if you can find them

Vermillion is best for shallow water fishing. The amber filtering adds contrast to browns and greens making fish much easier to see on the flats and in the shallows. For offshore fishing, blue lenses are supposed to better because they filter part of blue spectrum.

There is another theory or study out there that suggest your eye color has more to do with what colored filters work best for you.

For me, I fish the flats and wear CDM green mirror glass lenses that filter amber. Seeing what I see now on the flats compared to what I saw wearing just polarized lenses is amazing. I will never scimp on fishing glasses ever again. To me, it is just that important!!!

I finally broke down and got a sexy pair of Costa Hammerheads with Tortoise shell frame and blue mirror for Father's Day at Roy's. They are great and that model is about the only one that covers my eye orbit area. All of the other lenses felt small and I REALLY didnlt want to go to Walmart and get the Cataract models.

I think you need different lenses for different conditions. The vermillion lenses are best in low light conditions, like early morning sight casting. Green lenses seem to work best for me on the flats because they make the green grass and bottom growth really pop out, the fish are easier to spot against that background. Blue lenses are great offshore, but don't do much for me in the shallows. It probably has a whole lot to do with personal preference, but I carry several pairs and change as conditions change.

I have the blue mirror lenses (glass) and love them, the work great for offshore on sunny days.
The vermillion are better for overcast days. Much better! I dont own a pair of the vermillion but have worn a friends pair when its overcast and the improvement can be noted.

Also, last year I smashed an old pair of costas (stepped on the glass lens during a fight with a out-of-control crevelle). I sent em to the costa repair center and they sent me a new pair of shades for $60. not bad.

also, if you are fishing offshore when its VERY overcast (rain clouds, like 2 weekends ago) the blue is too dark to even use IMO.

No comparison. CDM are the best IMO, I have the Fathom frames with the green mirrored lenses. There warranty is awesome also. Had my first pair for almost 5 yrs., sent them back to them and got a brand new pair for 20dollars.

They really are great glasses. I have a pair going on three plus years (Hammerhead blue lenses) and they have taken a very good beating. However I did not think their warranty was great.

I purchased a new pair (Wave killers in green) and had they fell from a height of about three feet and the lens shattered. Upon shipment of glasses 10 bucks and repair another 72 bucks it came out to be a costly accident. I did not even have them for more than two months.

In hindsight I wish I would have went with the Maui Jim Volcanoes. I guess my old reliables will continue to take a beating as daily wears while the newer glasses see only my very limited time on the water.

vermillion buy far the best polorized lense color i have ever used, excellent for low light conditions, and shallow water, i'm happy wearing them all day. got my custom lenses at roberts optical on corona. i also like the amber color. i will get a pair of the vermillion mirrors in the future just for that extra cool look. Cool

I wish Costa would pay me for every time I have endorsed their glasses. They are the best I have found so far, I still wear my Oakley's but not when I am fishing the flats. The vermillion color allows me to see better structure and shadows than any I have ever had.

Just wondering what color eyes you all have who are endorsing the vermillion shade.
I have brown eyes, my wife has greenish blue eyes and she is much more sensitive to light than I am.

In other words, do any of you endorsing the vermillion shade have brown eyes?

Thanks!
