DO NOT DO IT AT THE PACKERY CHANNEL JETTIES. IT IS FAR TOO DANGEROUS WITH THE TIDES.

NOT TO MENTION THE PEOPLE TRYING TO FISH.

I have always heard there were big catfish at Wesley Seale Dam-and the water is crystal clear!

The Flower Gardens are a bit deep for snorkeling...

Besides the beach, I had good luck (back in the day) snorkeling back by the CPL powerplant in the Bluff. The back side of St. Jo is decent if you have a boat. The jetties are interesting on a weekday if the water is clear.

While I agree that at certain times Packery may be too dangerous to snorkel, there are plenty of days that it is easy to do. I would not recommend Packery as the place for a beginner, but if you know what you're doing, it can be an awesome place to snorkel.
