I just recieved a box from my wife and found the new 4wheelparts catalog in it , while flipping through I noticed PRO-COMP has come out with deep cycle marine batteries for about 115 bucks , looks like some competition for Optima (which I swear by) , but for 85 bucks less these are worth looking at . I forgot who was looking for cheaper deep cycle batteries but here you go ...

juan, are they sealed gel-cells or regular deep cycle sulfuric acid batteries?

Academy carries some blue top gel cells as well. Not sure If Ive seen them in the corpus store?

Looks like they're sealed , not gel cell , not much info on they're site other than specs , seems to be fairly light at 18 lbs .

juanpescado, those things weigh 18 KILOGRAMS, not pounds.......about 40 lbs, normal for a deep cycle....

OH, and the business is located in Australia, so shipping costs would probably suck......

the blue gel cell batteries are carried by Academy in corpus, HOWEVER they run about 160 bucks.....ouch......they're really good batteries, but geez.....

still looking for a good line on CHEAP gel cells IN THIS COUNTRY.......

Did not notice the Kilos , hell I tried , there is 4wheelparts in Austin but thats along way to go for batts .

yeah, Juan, I have a hard time going "over the bridge" for much of anything, so austin is a little outside the comfort zone for battery purchases........

I guess I'll just stick with the old weak deep cycle for my trolling motor and have to charge it like every time I use the thing.......those gel cells are tha bomb for batteries though.......

thanks for looking, that technology does bridge the gap between gels and "wet" cell batteries though.....didn't know that existed commercially....

At one time Sam's club had the best price on the gel-cells but I hardly ever go. Don't know the price now. It's funny that the prices of these batteries have kept going up instead of down. I bought my set from Academy when the price was about a 100.00.

If anyone is interested... my office is less than a mile from the 4 wheel parts in Austin. I am going to be in Port Aransas Sept. 14-18 staying at Port Royal at a company "meeting". I have some good friends that live right off Luguna Shores drive that i will be visiting either Saturday or Sunday of that weekend. If someone wants to buy these batteries I will bring them down to you. This isn't some line of B.S. to rob you you out of a couple of batteries. I have plenty in my garage. i will be going down there anyway and if someone wants to try them out, i will be more than happy to pick them up at 4 wheel parts and bring them to you. Just let me know. It would be nice to get a true report on these batteries so we could all save a little money in the future.

I was looking for new batteries that were lighter than what I currently have. And 40# is almost half the weight of my Stowaway. I'll look into them. Thanks.
