I was fishing off my dock in the dark with the only light shining was that in my canal. I was throwing little fishie lures and I wound up hooking into about a 10-in trout. As I was bringing it out of the water I thought it's acting kind of funny and looking strange. When I finally brought him in and released the hook I found he was embedded in this.

Working carefully I was able to wiggle this loop off of it. I went down by the water to release it. I held it in my hand and it was resting on my palm and then it slowly started wiggling and then took off active as could be. I was able to save a little guys life.

So, what was it? A rubber O-Ring? Good on you for cleaning it off.
