Last month, I really hit big Reds, 11. After that, me nor any of my buddies caught much of anything at that spot, for weeks. Well, yesterday, after a morning sprinkle, I went back with a pint of live shrimp, and caught a 21" Red, and an 18" black. Two neighbors came and spot-locked about twenty yards away. They started catching Reds, too. They were using mullet. Pretty soon they had a 28 & a 30" Red, plus a black. I hooked something big, that just ran and ran drag, then popped my 15# mono. I switched to a new Falcon ClearWater rod, a medium, which replaced the one a 30" Red broke the last time. It had 20# mono. I caught about 3 short Reds, not really resting my new rod. My friends left, and I moved just past their spot. I chunked north, and bam!, a 26" Red. He really bent my new rod, but I landed him, after he tangled up with my stringer with four other fish on it. So, I had some shrimp left, and soon caught a 21" black. Cool! So, with a few shrimp left, I cast near the spoil island, and wham!, a 30" Red. That one just about bent my new rod double, but it didn't break. Then, with about ten shrimp left, I caught a 29" Red. That was enough, as I had five fish to clean. This happened, again, at an ICW spoil islands, just south of the Cove Harbor Marina. They dredged there about four months back, and I thought the spot would be barren for months. TexasJim

Way to go on having such a great day. Good for you. And glad your new rod held up.
