Last night I didn't sleep well, and this morning I wasn't feeling great - but that rarely keeps me off the water. So I drove up the coast and hit the water at first light, and paddled towards a likely stretch of shoreline a mile away. From first light until noon, I covered nine miles of shorelines and casted to ten reds ...and nine of them ate the baits! Very Happy There were more fish around in deeper areas, but I left those alone to concentrate on my shallow exposed fish. One little guy was 21.5" but everyone else was 23-27". One boat drove past just after sunrise, and I passed two kayaks on the way out but otherwise it was just me, the birds and a few cows along the shore giving me the stink-eye. Winds were below 5 mph all morning, so spotting fish was pretty easy. I just had to remember to stay very quiet as I closed the distance each time. I'll take 9 for 10 any day! The Z-man Trick Shot in coppertreuse was a bit colorful for the clear water conditions, so I used "Goby Bryant", a color much more subdued and natural looking. Every fish that saw the bait crushed it ...until one broke me off and I had to use the TRD Craw. That one also met swift responses every time the fish saw it swimming past.

Something often goes wrong, and it's difficult to have consistency that shallow. I was glad to get lucky that morning!
