Thinking about buying a house on the coast. Any comments on DR Hortons subdivision in the Bluff called the cottages?

I live around the corner...
They look like typical cookie cutter small lot new homes.
They do look nice and new everything is always nice.
Just FYI, there is a lot of High speed traffic there, a lot of it commercial.
Also currently kind of hard to get in and out of there at times.

FYI,
My daughter and Fiance' will be putting their house on the market this April as they will be moving to Austin for work.
It's also here in the general area.

D.R. Horton, is a first class person, and apparently, also a first class builder, but I have never been in any of his homes or developments. I would be surprised if after looking at his homes you were not very impressed.

I live in the neighborhood right next door. Love the area. Flour Bluff drive traffic is a pain at times, but if you use our head yo can make it in and out easily enough. As for DR Horton, its your typical cookie cutter, no frills build, done by the cheapest person they can find. I have family that lives in another one of their communities, overall they are ok with their home but it lacks some normal amenities people would come to expect when purchasing a new home. Even looking at how minimally they build a fence gives you an idea. They save every penny every place they can on those homes. That being said, its hard to find any builder worth a darn in this city period nowadays.

Thanks for the comments. That's about what I expected. At 75 I am just looking for simple and easy to take care of with sufficient amenities and no frills. Smaller the lot the better. Less to mess with. This kind of place might work well for me except for the traffic. I live on an 1 1/2 acres here in Kerrville and the maintenance is killing me. I am ready for a break so I can spend most of my time fishing and sitting on my azz.

Was looking for the same sort of thing, just a bit more distance from the water in case of hurricanes. Out Chapman Ranch/Bishop way is a possibility. I need room for trailers and a garden that I'm not going to find in town.

I don't mind trailering a boat from 20 miles or so, heck, I tow the thing down from Austin a couple times a month as it is.

No thanks. Your local metheads and druggies are not capable of judging anything. Future Joey Bidens for sure. But, I guess you are used to it, right!!

Traffic can be a pain, however the light at Purdue helps you get out of the neighborhood for sure. Getting in, just plan best you can to not have to make a left turn into the neighborhood and you are ok. Eventually the city will decide to tell the 3-4 people in Shoreline Oaks that extended their back yards (and 1 added a pool) that they are SOL, bulldoze the area hat doesn't belong to them and get Purdue working as 2 directions in/out of the neighborhood. Why they havent done that yet is beyond me. There' I believe 4 houses there that have their backyard extended into what should be the sidewalk/street so because of this they built the street narrow and one way (exit) only.

that's what I was thinking...he'll make friends really fast...then again, maybe he just wants to live in God's Country and continue to hide behind his keyboard..

rodandroll, why don't you try on the north side of SPID in the bluff? prices are way better... you'll make lots of friends over there
