I fished a grass flat yesterday afternoon and from 2-4pm things were pretty good. Two reds, six trout and a flounder that really hurt my feelings. I don't always catch big flounder but when I do it's during the "catch and release only" season. My first 24" flattie went back swimming. Oh well, it was a great sight as the fish came up on the grassy flat and kept trying to bed down to avoid the net.

Very slow lure movement was the play of the day again.

If the state sees good ones caught they'll extend the closure 'til the end of the year. Laughing

A softball buddy of mine who's had knee and shoulder surgery lately said he needed to get his boat out on the water and run it. He said he hadn't even started it since october. So we went out ran around and he allowed me to fish while he watched. I don't know how many fish I caught and released but these are the two nicest. A 23 and a 24 inch trout

"They" are getting closer and closer to getting hatchery-raised flounder production right, and if you follow the 'science', that's a tough fish to work with.

But, 'they' are doing well, slowly getting closer to the Holy Grail of making an XX cross with an XY-Feminized fish (<---- that's a real thing for flatfishes Shocked), such that everything coming out of hatcheries are females. It's all about getting eggs into the environment.
