We have been planning a surf fishing Safari this weekend, but friends and San Antonio news outlooks are saying not to go to the coast because of a BIG RED TIDE EVENT happening.

What are your eyes and noses seeing and smelling ?

Positive cell counts for 'That Which Shall Not be Mentioned" have been reported north (Galveston area), and south (South Padre area), but water samples from the past couple of days from Packery Channel have all been 0 cells/ml.

Positive as in "we had to use hazmat suits to collect samples or positive as in "keep looking, we'll find one eventually"?

CS is spot on re upper coast. Check out link above for more info. Search Nick Meyer Youtube for daily beach report and TPWD has a red tide status report on their website.
BTW, finger mullet migration is on in the NPI surf. Find the mullet to find the game fish!

Positive, as in lots of dead fish washing in around Galveston, to low concentrations down south, but no fish kills. Nothing in the samples from Aransas, CC Bay, Upper Laguna.

Up-to-date info can be found here: https://tpwd.texas.gov/landwater/water/environconcerns/hab/redtide/status.phtml

Careful with the videos embedded in that report. The still pictures look accurate as to what's happening up north, but I'm pretty sure the video of all the menhaden washed up is some older footage of a previous event.

Hopefully it will stay up north or, better yet, just go away altogether.

thanks for the link.
