I normally come down twice a year for a few days, but after getting scammed twice in a row by "air b&b" it's back going to the hotel. At the LaQuinta where they promise to have a "normal" sized refrigerator- freezer.
Going down to the 5 to 25 mile marker depending what the surf looks like. I hope the warden likes fresh beach bbq'ed fillet, cause I do. Nothing like a fresh catch pulled from waves then from the mini weber.
This will be my first time trying out some of Nick Meyer's Breakaway Imps & weights & one of his rods. Will be using live shrimp, then dead shrimp & maybe cooked shrimp. Spoons perhaps. Whatever gets them hooked. Maybe even a poping cork. I'll report each night. Pics coming. |

Let us know how it goes.
We're thinking of making a short trip down there on Sunday _________________ Steve-O

Sure will Cap. Will arrive Wednesday night, ready for some beach & fishing. I believe my pop up will be Camo colored, and I will be in a silver F-150, so any of ya see me give a honk or stop & have a cold one. - Doug _________________ No matter where you go, there you are. Got out there at apx. 7 miles down before the sun rose. I was ready. Started catching 9 inch hardheads which stopped around 1pm. Was using live shrimp, dead shrimp & cooked shrimp. The sea was rough & the wind almost calm up to around 10am the wind crept up past 10 mph. Then later back up to ~ 15 mph. Tried throwing a few luers, nothing. The water did clear up tremendously.
Back at the hotel I did speak with some that mentioned that he & a friend did catch a trout, and then a flounder on plastics, every color they had. On a 3/8 ounce bug eye. The only thing I didn't try, and I had a bunch right there in the tackle box too!.
I have some nice pics, wish I could post these here.... |
