A few days ago a friend living near Bluff's Landing said they had started paving. Does anyone know the full extent of the paving from SPID to Bluff's Landing, such as, what sections are now paved and which are not of the three sections? Any oversight of the entire paving project would be appreciated.

Just took a drive over there...
Southbound side is paved all the way from Mediterranean to Martha.
Northbound side is being paved now starting at Mediterranean towards Martha.
They're about half way there on it as of a few minutes ago.
Might finish it by EOD tomorrow.
Looks really good and nicely crowned for drainage.

Also looks like Caribbean and North is still completely closed

Steve, thank you very much for the reply, Coach Zia and me are both out of town, but Coach Zia is having fun catching those beautiful trout and fending off the those big horn sheep! Laughing

It just occurred to me, this project has gone on for almost two years and then they start paving during the Christmas and NewYears holidays! What great management of time their management has displayed over the entire project! Laughing

Like the little postcard they sent us in the mail a couple years back says, estimated completion date is February 2022.

Let us hope so!

The card I got I'm pretty sure said November of 2021 for the South section.
My money is on a bonus if they finished that section by end of yr... Wink

yeah they finally got going....they ran into a couple of problems at the Beasely ditch, and the Van Galen ditch, so segment 2 from Hustlin Hornet to Caribbean is going to take a little longer, but February is easily attainable...

people are going to be hauling a$$ up and down that road with the new paving...

They have been doing so with no paving. I recall in the public meeting at the school wherein someone expressed concerns about how fast people will be driving on the new paved road, and maybe they were right! To be honest, I discounted it at the time, but we will see. A few stop signs and a little radar might be applicable. Hopefully, no speed bumps! Rolling Eyes

I was helping run that public meeting, I had forgotten about that....one thing that sticks out from that meeting is that we called for a show of hands who in the community wanted them to construct all three segments at once and getting it over with, vs. who wanted the city to construct one segment at a time....

99 people put their hands in the air to get it all done at once, which is the way to do it, as we would only have maybe a segment and a half done by now....

and there was ONE GUY who lives in segment 3 who actually didn't want them to do any construction EXCEPT for the flooding in his yard (he lives right next to the laguna, the city can't do anything about that!)....that dude has been a P-I-T-A for the city this entire time, and his crying and moaning didn't accomplish anything....

friend of yours bayfly? LOL

No, as a matter of fact, I did not know anyone there, but do have some concern for those whose yards are flooded sometimes along Laguna Shores. However, not being an engineer, but one with a long history of dealing with water flow, I don't have any insight how the problem will be satisfied since everything seems to be at about the same level. In my hometown of Orange, Texas, they actually have huge pumps to keep the town free of flooding conditions since it's about a foot below sea level, as I would imagine the area of concern in the Bluff might be close to.
BTW Becky, I appreciate you updating us on the status of problems in the 2nd part of the road, and especially the forecast for February completion. It would have been helpful to have set up an online site where the status could be learned by simply checking. That being said, I'm not suggesting a blog would have been a good ideal. Laughing

ONE person can get in the way. Had a dude here who wanted a stop sign put in so he could pull out his horse trailer. Scheduled the meeting. And then at the last moment moved it to the other side od the county. So no one could show up and protest it. It's people like YOU who maintain a voice. Gotta pay attention.

It IS the online project status site, because you are kind enough to answer the inquiries about the project, but it would be nice to have a site to go to on city projects to learn the status without having to contact someone or ask questions on a fishing site! It's called public service! Laughing
