I've been away from the beach for several yrs..
but an autumn day w. light winds and clean surf have been best for me...

pomp rigs or just shrimp pieces out as far as possible.. Fishbites added help
if you find an area w/the little tiny clams(coquinas).. fish there

any time October through April when the surf is down. If water temps get into the 50s it can slow it down. Just watch the wind reports and look to fish after a front that has blown from the n or nw, or any other time they say the surf is 2' or less. fishbites and shrimp, or fishbites alone. Need to get it out there as far as possible. Further down PINs there are spots where you can get to the 2nd or 3rd bar much easier then up north, also better fishing when the cold sets in.
