| I am in discussion for possible purchase of cabin down in landcut. Cabin needs significant repairs, if not complete rebuild. Trying to get an idea of associated cost to see if it would even be worth pursuing. Does anybody have contact information for contractor/builder for land based cabins down in landcut? GLO said they do not have list of contractors. Thanks in advance. |

You might try Jeff Kratz 361-946-1535.

| When the last hurricane hit that area a few years ago, I happened to be at Marker 37 immediately thereafter and many of the people repairing them(possibly owners) were staging out of Marker 37. I would imagine they acquired permission to stage there, due to taking up most of the ramp area. Possibly the folks at Marker 37 could give you some contact information on possible contractors. |

| Mingo Molina builds them as well. I'd look into him and Jeff Kratz. |

Both good choices. I know after the hurricane Mansfield alot were and still are busy. Lumber prices thru the roof stalled some projects or jobs. Now they have seemed to come down then back up a bit. Be prepared for costs. Redid an upper back deck on my house in port isabel on the fingers. Luckily I had put away the lumber ect.. most had to be ordered anyways so an immediate project and completion was not feesible until all materials were on hand. Luckily I got at lower prices before the boom or crunch however you look at it. Good luck you may want to try south out of kingsville or port Mansfield also. Try and get some names if I can. _________________ Long time avid fisherman rod builder. |

My Dad and I sold our GLO permit for $40,000 a few years back. Worst day of my life. The new owners dropped another $80,000 for a complete rebuild. They hired a shrimp boat out of Mansfield to haul all the materials out and they built it themselves.
Our cabin was at Marker 23 at the most southern of the land cut. We would come out of Port Mansfield. The cabin needed to be rebuilt and I did not have the time nor the money.
Our original cabin was at Marker 15 that my dad built in the 70's then in 1985 we moved to the Marker 23 area. I loved that place. Now I keep an RV in Mansfield. Not the same but it'll do. _________________ Shallow Sportn' it |
