Must be some fish showing up in Packery around the 2 bends, and just before the no wake sign by the houses. Unfortunately the maroons in their boats there think its ok to block the entire channel to all cast at the same few fish. This is a navigable waterway, don't get upset when people come through the channel while traveling. There is plenty of other water for you to fish with your 100K dollar bay boats, there aren't many other options for people to navigate to the gulf locally however. 2 days in a row we have come across this while traveling the channel out to the gulf. |

You are correct. It is a navagatable channel or water way. You can plow right thru them if you like. I would look out for them throwing something at you that could be harmful. I would just idle down the middle of the channel and film for future use if they take it out on you. |

yup, just keeping moving through there and never mind what they're doing....pay no attention to a big pile of boats sightcasting to huge schools of fish...those folks are just there to inconvenience you, and no other reason...
ha!

I've seen some nearshore rig runners try to get in the fray using their big motors and jockey among the bay boats using trolling motors - needless to say they "make a lot of friends"....
ha!

Next time I see an airboat skipper at a launch, I'll recommend that he go through there! Several times. TexasJim _________________ TexasJim

It's a navigable channel, don't get upset when others are using it to access the gulf. Guess we should loop back to Port A so they can fish the middle of Packery as they please? |

I have never encountered a situation there when there wasn't room for both but I'm sure it happens. We all like to boat and fish, just keep that in mind and show some consideration.
*On a slightly different note, there are a lot of fish that hang out on the edge of the ICW (especially right now but pretty much year round) please don't burn the edges when avoidable. |

Had a floater for back like 7 or 8 years ago tied up on the West side of the ditch right as you come into the cut. Crazy fishing there on the edge. Especially at night.
Had to move because barges were coming in to close, got to be dangerous. It was tied on one side to a old Conrad Breacher weather platform. It ended up in the Badlands which was also a great spot. Still there, just a different owner. |

you took it exactly as I thought you would....defensive....
of course not, go around through Port A...just ease through like you did....no reason to get mad at other people "getting in your way" while trying to fish, is what I was saying...greenhornet gets what I was saying...
do you also go slow in the fast lane and get mad when someone tail gates you?

I've fished in many different areas and generally think those who anchor up in a channel to soak bait fully expect others to stay on plain while passing. I'm sure there are exceptions. I'm sure they appreciate someone going by not making a wake, but I think it would be foolish to expect everyone traversing Packery Channel to slow down to a no wake? If everyone backed off the throttle
Substantially then they would probably make a bigger wake then at a cruising speed? Anyone have the perfect answer, because I would be inclined to stay on plain at a cruising speed for their accommodation, as well, as mine. |

Never said "getting in my way", that's you changing words around. Oddly enough, it was the ones blocking the channel who got upset, at least I believe they were upset based on the 1 finger salutes and yelled vulgarities we received
while traveling by them.
And nope, I don't believe in ever going slow in the fast lane, I actually generally travel fast enough to not worry about someone tailgating me. Funny, I don't think people should block the flow of traffic on the road, or in the water. |

Maybe someone should address this with the local game warden or Coast Guard before it becomes more then a one finger salute response. I doubt Packery was built to be someones fishing spot! |

Yep things have changed. Lotsa new folks, tourists, and old timers in the same water. My best advice is just set the example, most on this board know that and set a good example when on the water. Just gotta teach the rookies. _________________ wake and speed are not linear |
